….it’s been what feels like 20 years.
Haha

The S2 of Yona of dawn is gonna be as close to S1 as of Yona of Dawn was to spirited away, shaman king and og fruits basket

Holy shit it’s ONLY been ten years.
It really does feel like longer.

I was there Gandalf

I was there 3000 years ago

You shall not pass

It’s been 84 years 👵

That means there’s still hope for Bloom into You right?
Right!?

I need the rest of Bloom animated before I do.

As someone who has read all of Bloom into you and the side light novels.

Yes please.

Yona got it announced after the final chapter released,
is this one finished?

Yes, for a while now…

cool

Maybe there is hope our favorite anime’s will all get s2’s after all,
we’ll all just be old when it happens

I thought it would never happen.
I am so happy 🙂

Yeah I watched it all in high school and only remember the names Yona and Hak.
I also remember it taking place in a land called the Kouka kingdom?
I should rewatch it

Honestly, it’s been so long I had already given up.
It’s the first shoujo anime that I liked so it has a special space for me.
Just didn’t know why it never got a second season,
but good news after sooo long.

I’m sorry what?
Which anime god blessed us with this miracle?

Really hoping it keeps the original aesthetic as much as possible.
A bunch of long awaited followups feel like they change the art direction too much
and it winds up losing a lot of the feel that the earlier stuff had.

I’ve been hoping that the manga wrapping up around the same time Bleach TYBW does
means Pierrot is gonna pick it back up.

When did the manga conclude?
I never watched it but I remember binging the manga
up to whatever point it was at LOOOOOONG ago.

When did the manga conclude?

The last chapter came out today in Japan.
It’ll be a while before we get it in English.

Do animators even remember how to do that style after this long?

I mean, that’s why animation directors exist.

Kimi ni Todoke s2 and s3 are the same art style despite the 10+ year wait,
with s3 just being a bit more polished up.

That and changing the VA cast
(looking at you panty and stocking s2 dub).
It makes it feel so disjointed lol

More long awaited sequels need to take a page out of KnT’s book.

stares at D-Gray Man: Hollow

Now give me arslan senki

Don’t get me wrong, I love season 1,
but from this point on is where it gets really good imo,
so I’m super hyped for this.
The next few arcs have some of my favorite characters and moments;
can’t wait for them to finally be animated.

I had the same thought.
After reading it, I view it the same as Apothecary Diaries.
The source material for what will be S2 is so good
that it should basically guarantee the rest of it will be animated

Yeah the manga really picks up later on.
It is the highest rated shoujo on MAL after all
and in the top 50 overall.
I really want to see Lili in the anime.
She’s great.

Yeah the manga really picks up later on.

Let me clarify this: the manga never takes its foot off the gas.
It just keeps peaking.

It’s really perfectly paced.
It’s not that it suddenly gets better,
but it just keeps building on everything it’s introduced.
Season 1 is a good story arc,
but it was also table setting for the later arcs.

The source material for what will be S2 is so good
that it should basically guarantee the rest of it will be animated

That’s a very optimistic perspective,
unfortunately being good is neither sufficient nor necessary to get sequels.

Rent-a-girlfriend’s 5 seasons unfortunately show this to be true

While true, anime getting sequels is definitely more common nowadays
than when S1 of Yona came out.
Plus, we’ve got stuff like Psyren getting an anime
when the source material ended over a decade ago.

Definitely no 100% guarantee they adapt the rest of Yona,
but the source material is on par or even better
than a lot of series that have sequels currently.

I enjoyed Season 1 enough to start reading the manga,
but it was mostly set up and getting the main group together,
so I’m glad we can see the story progress from here.

This.
The story and character dynamics picked up quite a bit for me
after the events of that first season
(which was all very much your classic “RPG-style gathering of the party members” stuff).
We have no idea whether this will be a single or two-cour production yet,
but I really hope it’s the latter to cover the next couple major arcs!

We literally just finished the intro arc with the first season.
Like you said now the story starts to pick up from here.

The next season supposed to cover the best part 😍
until the half of the manga,
after that it’s a bit of a mess with Yona direction as a character and Su Won too…
it’s obv the mangaka didn’t know how to continue the manga.
The ending is rushed too.
Still the first half of the manga totally worth it

Does this series have only one love interest?
I hate those second male leads or reverse harems
or any forcefully kisses and that stuff.

Pretty much yeah.
Technically another guy loves her,
but there’s really no competition for the main love interest,
nor does Yona show any love for anyone else
except her first love that betrayed her.

How’s the ending shaping out to be?
Is it satisfying or a bit rushed?

It’s satisfying,
but it feels like there should have been an arc
between the previous arc and the final one.
