たった1億ドルでNetflixに権利を売っちゃったせいで、劇場公開もできなくなって、その興行収入の利益も逃したわけだし。
それにグッズ展開や続編の展開だってあったのにさ、マジで（笑）。
Uh yeah, not only on Blu-Rays but since they sold the rights to Netflix for only $100M they lost out on doing a theatrical release and making profit off of that, too. Not to mention merchandise and sequels lmao

2012年にソニーがPC向けのブルーレイ／DVDプレイヤー事業をやめたとき、俺そのチームにいたんだよね。
最後の出荷が終わった後にレイオフされたよ。
小売向けモデルがここまで長く続いたのは正直ちょっと驚きだわ。
I was on the team at Sony when they got rid of blue Ray/ DVD players for computers back in 2012, and was laid off after last shipments were made. I’m surprised the retail version lasted this long.

配信じゃ無理でしょ。同じ映画を数年のうちに5つくらいの配信サービスを渡り歩いて追いかけなきゃいけないし、最終的には完全に消えるかもしれない。
しかも今は配信で観られない映画がどんどん増えてるし、二度と配信されないかもしれない作品もある。
フィジカルがなくなったら、そういう作品にアクセスする方法がなくなるんだよ。
I already am. Where are we going to get deep behind the scenes footage like the LotR Appendix? Surely not with streaming, where you have to chase the same movie across five different streaming services in the span of a few years, until it disappears forever.
There’s also an ever increasing list of movies that are just not available on streaming, and maybe never will be again. With no physical media around, there’s no way to get access to them.
