What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of Kinato’s Magic?

出だしはかなり王道って感じ。
でも雰囲気はいいし、初期のフェアリーテイルを思い出した。
冒険しながら話が広がっていくタイプだと思う。
主人公は「治癒魔法の間違った使い方」の主人公みたいな感じになりそう。
整体魔法を使って自分を強化していく系かな。
Pretty generic start
But has good vibes, reminds me of early Fairy Tail
Where they will go on with adventures
I think MC will be like the MC of the isekai “Wrong way to use healing magic”
Using his seitai magic to improve himself

I wouldn’t say it’s generic. I think it was a classic start. I feel like saying generic is negative.

これはまさにそれをやってくれそうで期待してる。
I’m a big fan of three characters sharing one brain cell as a dynamic and this seems to be set up to deliver that.

良い意味で王道の少年漫画って感じがする。
フェアリーテイルとかワンピースみたいな、ちょっと笑える空気感があってさ。
しかも話の方向性がどこにでも転べそうなのがいい。
これはぜひ成功してほしいな。
It feels like a generic shonen, but in a good way, it has this funny vibe like Fairy Tail or One Piece, with the good part being that this could go anywhere. I hope that this does well.

このスレ読んでて自分がおかしいのかと思ってきたわｗ
俺は最初から最後まで普通に楽しめたんだけどな。
絵は良いし、設定も楽しい（まあ異世界っぽいのに弱いだけかもしれないけど、それは否定しない）。
キャラもいい。キナトはめちゃ可愛いし、ジエンも良いキャラしてる。
これもUnder Doctorもどっちも好きだったから、今回の新連載陣は今のところかなり期待してる。

Great art, fun premise (or maybe I’m just a sucker for an isekai-like, which is probably true), good characters (Kinato is a cutie patootie and Jien is fun).
I loved both this and Under Doctor, so I’m excited for this new batch so far.

ずっとファンタジー系のバトル少年漫画を待ち望んでたし、
この作者はかなりポテンシャルありそう。
絵も強いし、キャラ描写もしっかりしてる。
ちゃんと生き残って、独自の色を出せるところまで続いてほしい。
Under Doctorも、とにかく勢い（＝センス）がすごい。
どっちも本当に期待してる。
I would love that. I’ve been dying for another fantasy battle shounen, and this author definitely seems to have a lot going for him. Strong art, and solid character writing too. Hopefully it survives long enough to really carve its own identity.
And Under Doctor, too, just has so much sauce. I really am hopeful for this one.

今のところ打ち切られた作品はないよ。
ただ「逃げ上手の若君」は、あと数話で自然に終わりそうだけど。
だからしばらくは連載が1本多い状態で回すと思う。
Nothing else has gotten axed. Elusive Samurai will probably end naturally in a few chapters though, so the magazine will just run with one extra series for a bit.

Gonronはまだ続いてるけど、
今日見た評価だと最下位だったし、評判もかなり悪い感じだね。
Gonron is still going but the ratings I checked today showed it at the bottom and people seem pretty negative on it.

良い意味でフェアリーテイル感ある。
「偽物に騙されて、本物に助けられて、大きなギルドに加わるため旅立つ」って流れ、
フェアテ1話のルーシィとほぼ同じなんだよね。
でも今回は、主人公自身が隠れた才能とパワーを持ってて、
サポート役なだけじゃなく、ちゃんとトドメも刺す側なのが違う。
守られるヒロインじゃなくて、主役本人ってのがいい。
It’s giving me Fairy Tail vibes, in a good way. The “tricked by fakes, get helped by the real deal, set out on adventure to join their larger guild” is very much like what happened to Lucy in FT’s first chapter. But here our protagonist is the one with serious hidden potential and power who not only gives support but also lands the final blow, instead of a damsel saved by the real protagonist.

章全体としては、よくあるお約束展開をつなぎ合わせて設定を作った感じはしたかな。
ただキャラは可愛いし、掛け合いも楽しい（1話だけで分かる範囲ではだけど）。
特にキナトの性格はかなり好き。見た目も振る舞いもデク感すごい。
ただ全体的に、キナトの主体性がかなり弱く感じたのは残念。
ほぼ1話通して流されっぱなしで、
自分の状況や能力を理解してないせいで、内面の描写に重みがなかった気がする。
とはいえ、スタートとしては良いと思うし、正直かなり期待してる。
The whole chapter kind of felt like a bunch of common tropes stitched together to form a premise? The characters are cute and have a fun dynamic (at least, as much as we can see within a single chapter), and I really liked Kinato’s personality (he looks and behaves so much like Deku!). Overall though I didn’t like how little agency Kinato had, it felt like he was being dragged along the entire chapter and his thoughts/feelings didn’t have a lot of weight because of how little he understood his situation and his own abilities. I think it’s a good start though and I’m actually quite optimistic!
