正直、この主人公は他の料理バトル漫画の悪役たちを余裕でぶっちぎってる。
やってることの中には、テレビ放送していいのか怪しいレベルのもあるし。

Even the teaser is in disbelief this compliance-defying manga is allowed to get an anime in this era where compliance is tighter than before, and is asking us if this thing is all right to air. Us fans are pretty much asking the same thing btw. Shit’s wild.

俺が観てたのは1997年版で、2019年のリメイクはまだ観てないけど。
しかも原作漫画も90年代半ばだし。
It sounds similar to Chuuka Ichiban! The 1997 series as I haven’t watched the 2019 remake/re-adaptation.
And based on a manga also from the mid-90s.

主人公はとんでもなく傲慢だし、
周りのキャラも『ソーマ』とはまったくタイプが違う。
あと、女性キャラの胸は『ソーマ』以上にバカみたいにデカい。
It focuses exclusively on Chinese cuisine. The protagonist is an extraordinarily arrogant character, and the surrounding cast is completely different from the kinds of people you see in Food Wars. Also, the female characters’ breasts are even more absurdly oversized than in Food Wars.

でもこの漫画の主人公は、とにかく勝つことしか考えてない。
手段は一切選ばないし、完全にクズだよ。
The MC of Food Wars care about making good food. The MC of this manga only cares about winning the competition, at all costs. He’s a total jerk.

嫌なヤツを主人公にして好感持たせるのって、実はかなり難しい。
理由もなく味方にまでクズ対応する主人公を、
「好きになれ」って押し付けてくる作品を何度も見てきた。
好感持てるクズ主人公の例はロイド・フロンテラくらい。
この主人公が「嫌われるクズ」なのか「愛されるクズ」なのか、気になるな。
It’s actually pretty hard to make likable jerks as protagonist. Seen countless times how manhwa made a Mc who is a jerk to everyone even people on his sides for no reason and we were supposed to like him. The only example of of likable jerk is Lloyd Frontera. I wonder if this guy will be unlikable jerk or likable jerk

こいつはマジモンのクズ。
他人が苦しむのを見て喜ぶレベルで、完全にヴィラン寄り。
ロイドやカズマみたいに、最終的には善のために動くタイプとも違う。
この主人公は基本、誰のことも気にしてない。
一応、終盤で「ほんのちょっと」だけマシにはなるけどね。
ただ、自分なりの信念は持ってて、
命が危険にさらされても料理にすべてを捧げる男でもある。
どこまでやるか、その覚悟は本当にヤバい。
The guy is a real jerk, Like full on Villainous that take pleasure in seeing others suffering. Unlike Lloyd or Kazuma who at the end of the day still works for good cause and actually cares about people, The protag here doesn’t really cares about anyone(He does get a bit better at the end, Though emphasized on “a bit”)
Though he is also the man of principle(at least his own), He dedicated everything into cooking even when it puts his life in danger. Like the extent this guy willing to go is astounding.

こいつは100％クズだから、
ライバル（もう一人の主人公）が勝ってほしいと思うのが普通。
でも、やることがいちいち面白すぎて、
「次は何をやらかすんだ？」って結局観続けちゃう。
ちなみにこいつ、
大会のエントリー料理に毒キノコのスープを出して、
他の参加者にマウント取った男だからな。
This guy is like a 100% jerk, as in it’s actually normal to dislike him and want his rival (the other main character) to win. But his antics are so entertaining you just have to keep watching to see what crazy stuff he could pull out next.
This is the guy whose entry dish into a competition was poisonous mushroom soup so he could just rub it into the faces of everyone else.

この作品が一番輝くのは、
もっとタチの悪いクズ相手に主人公をぶつけた時。
そいつらをボコボコに恥かかせる展開が、マジで気持ちいい。
これが善人主人公だったら、
「反省しろよ」みたいな説教で終わるだろうしな。はぁ…。
The shows shines when having him against bigger jerks you love to punch in the face. When the protagonist humiliates them it’s so satisfying. Meanwhile a goodie two shoes would be like “I teach him a lesson, be good now” smh.

最初にこれ知ったの、『Culinary Class Wars』経由なんだよな。
コミックブック・シェフがこの作品を元に料理作ってて、
あの人めちゃくちゃ好きな料理人だった。
これは確実に気になるわ。
Holy shit. I strangely first heard about this from Culinary Class Wars from the Comic Book Chef. He was one of my favorite chefs and all his dishes were based off this series. I’m definitely interested.
