海外の反応-ランスがついにSteamに登場！

翻訳されてる作品は大体買って遊んだけど、
ヒロインは結構好きだし、
世界観の作り込みもかなり良いと思う。

でもランスだけは、
さすがにクズすぎて無理だった。

とはいえ日本ではめちゃくちゃ人気あるんだよな。
確かエロゲのキャラランキングで、
何年も1位取り続けてたはず。

途中から女性キャラ限定ランキングになったけど、
男キャラもOKだった時代は、
トップ10に入った数少ない男キャラで、
しかも複数年1位取った唯一の存在だったと思う。

I brought and played the majority of the translated games, I have to say, I like most of the heroines, the world building is pretty good, but Rance is really too much of an asshole for me.

Japan does love him though, he’s so popular, that if I remember correctly, in these Eroge character ranking, for years he was number 1, until they made only heroines, during the the time where they allowed male characters, he was one of the few to get in the Top 10 and the only to get fist place for multiple years

ランス抜きで出すべきだろ。

ゲームとしては本当に良いのに、
主人公とストーリーがキツすぎて、
半分も進められなかったわ。

They should release Sengoku Rance but without Rance, such a good game but the main character and the story is hard to stomach, I couldn’t even get halfway through it.

言いにくいけど、
男が被害者だから触れられにくい面もあると思う。

それに一人称視点だから、
画面上で起きてること自体は
「上半身裸の女性が揺れてる」だけで、
抵抗してる様子も、
苦しんでる人物も映らない。

どうせ視聴者はエロ目的の男だろ、
って前提で作られてる感じもあるしな。

Not to be that guy, but it’s probably mentioned less because it’s a woman assaulting a man. That, and also since it’s first-person the thing that is actually happening on screen during that scene is mostly just a topless woman bouncing up and down. There’s no one on-screen who’s visibly upset or resisting, and it’s sort of assumed that the audience is horny men who like that kind of thing.

小規模ゲームだからだと思う。
売上に対して、
Steam側の評判リスクが大きすぎる。

大手タイトルには慎重になるけど、
小さいところは切り捨てられやすい。
陰謀論とかじゃなく、
単純に金の話だよ。

Maybe it’s small games. Small games cause reputation damage out of proportion to their sales (or revenue for Steam). For the big guys, they tread lightly. Cultural vendetta, I don’t believe it. Follow the money.

みんな基本気にしない。

というか、
問題になりにくいからこそ、
安全圏として入れられてる。

Coz he’s a man and people usually don’t care about sexual assaults on men. Or rather, it’s safer to include it coz sfw won’t make a drama about it.

そのゲームの回顧動画を最近見たけど、
改めて見ると、
あのストーリー本当に狂ってるなって思った。

I just watched bizlychannel’s retrospective on that game and I forgot how insane that story was.

性別の違いもあるけど、
プレイヤーが「やらされる側」なのか、
「やる側」なのかでも全然違う。

ランスは、
しかも頻繁かつ積極的にやる側だしな。

あと、物語上の必然か、
ただの“エロのためのエロ”かでも、
受け取り方は大きく変わる。

Aside from the gender difference (which shouldn’t matter but does), it’s different when it’s something that happens to the player, rather than something the player does. Apparently enthusiastically and frequently in the Rance series. Also very different if it’s happening for plot reasons or “plot” reasons.
