日本でも19歳の若者が飲むのなんて普通だよ。実際、ナイトクラブで19歳が飲んだりタバコ吸ったりしてるのに出くわしたこともあるし。こっちじゃ身分証なんてほとんど確認されないけど、俺の国じゃ白髪でもカード提示させられるくらい厳しいんだ。
むしろ俺の国だと飲酒可能年齢が18歳だから、たいしたことじゃない感覚だね。
A shitload of 19 year olds drink in Japan as well. I’ve literally run into 19 year olds in nightclubs drinking and smoking. They don’t seem to card anyone here like they do back where I’m from where they’ll even card people with grey hair.
It feels like even less of a big deal to me because where I’m from the drinking age is 18.

2010年代に日本の大学で1年過ごしたけど、新入生みんな飲んでたよ。本気でね。サークルの飲み会が学期に何度もあって、飲むように圧がかかることも多かったし。コンビニでも年齢確認されたことなんてほとんどないし、店員が画面の「20歳以上」ボタンを押してくれることすらあった。
だから日本人がこんなに反応してるの、正直驚いてる。
I did a year at a Japanese university in the 2010s and ALL the freshmen drank. Heck, you had to given that your university clubs were having giant nomikai events a few times a semester where peer pressure to drink was high. Never got carded at the convenience store either – sometimes the clerks even helped out by pressing the “over 20” button on the screen for us.
I’m surprised Japanese people are reacting so strongly to this.
