いやマジで、OPで目が潤んだの初めてかもしれん。
最初の1分間、あのパーティーのシーンが本当に美しすぎた。

あれって、彼らのたった10年の冒険を、
できる限り凝縮して描いたものなんだと思う。
（追記）この美しいOPを何回か見直してて気づいたんだけど、
ヒンメル一行の冒険が一瞬で切り替わっていくのって、
フリーレン視点だと「本当に一瞬だった」って感覚の表現なんじゃないか？
いや、泣いてないからな！？

繋がりを見つけて、失って、孤独になって、
それでもまた繋がりを見つけていく――
その流れを完璧に描いてるのが本当に好き。
色使いも音楽のビートとの合わせ方も見事すぎる。
（追記）また見直したら、やっぱり涙出た。
夏の暖かい色合いと花が一気に広がるあの瞬間。
「終わりは必ずしも本当の終わりじゃない」ってテーマが刺さりすぎる。
はぁ……。
Same. The friggin OP makes me cry, dang it.
Love how it tells the story of her finding connection, losing connection, being alone, then finding it again.
And they did such a wonderful job with the use of color to do so, and timing it all with the beats from the music.
Edit: Again with the next rewatch. Tears.
Right at the part when the warm summer colors burst forth with the flowers.
The notion that endings aren’t always the end. Oof.

Mrs. GREEN APPLEの曲で言えば、
正直「Inferno」を超えるものはまだないと思う。
でもこのOPも普通に神曲だわ。

個人的には「Lilac」派だけど、
「Inferno」が世代代表クラスの神曲なのは同意する。
I’m pretty partial to Lilac but I have to agree that
Inferno is a generational banger.

でもザインが完全にいないのが悲しすぎる…。
このOPのフラッシュバック演出好きだわ。
一瞬で流れていく感じが、たぶんフリーレンの時間感覚そのものなんだと思う。

Like the flashes of flashbacks in this OP. They went by so damn fast which is probably similar to how Frieren experiences it.

数日前にSpotifyがおすすめしてきて、
「うわ、この曲フリーレンっぽすぎるだろ」って思ってたんだよ。
そしたら実際にS2のOPだって知って、めちゃくちゃテンション上がった。
フリーレンのOPで一番好きなのは今でも「Haru」だけど、これはかなり僅差の2位だね。
Spotify recommended this song to me a few days ago and I thought “damn this song reminds me of Frieren”
Imagine my delight when I found out soon after it’s actually the S2 OP.
Haru will always be my favorite Frieren OP, but this is a close second.

I just realized, I got JJK, Frieren, and Fate for 3 consecutive days every week. My eyes are gonna be so blessed, it’s been a while since this last happened. Something to look forward to after work at the tail end of the week.

ファルセットは今の半分くらいでよかったかな。
Not the biggest fan of the song, I’d probably prefer it with 50% less falsetto.

でもファルセットは正直プラスにはならなかったな。
フル版でも同じで、
最後のサビかブリッジか分からないけど、
ファルセットが長く盛り上がっていくところで一気に置いていかれた。
I too think it was only alright until that. The falsetto didn’t make it better for me, though. Same in the full track, the last chorus or bridge or whichever part with the prolonged falsetto crescendoing lost me.

どうやって取ったんだろ。指名？自分たちから売り込んだ？
どっちのアニメも超・超ビッグ作品なのに。
YOASOBIの「Lilas」も同じ感じだよね。
not at Mrs. Green Apple landing OPs for Apothecary Diaries and Frieren! How did they do it? Are they handpicked? Bid themselves? or something? These anime are huge HUGE!

Mrs. GREEN APPLEなら正直余裕だと思う。
今の日本で一番人気のバンドだからね。
向こうから依頼されるか、
自分たちがやりたいって言えば即決されるレベルだと思う。
i think its quite easy for Mrs Green Apple, they are the most popular band in Japan.
Either they get asked, or they ask and automatically get it.

人気アーティストをOPやEDに使うのって、
作品側からしたら「実質タダの宣伝」みたいなもんだよね。
そのアーティストのファンが自然とアニメにも興味持つし、
そこから話題が広がって人気のループが回り出す。
流行りのアートやミームが作品を一気に押し上げるのと同じ。
（最近あったフリーレンの「見上げる」ミームとかね。
ああいうの、バカっぽいけどめちゃくちゃ拡散力ある）
Yeah, having a popular group/singer doing opening/ending is just “free” promotion for the series.
All the fans will be interested in it. So more people are made aware of it, that feeds a content loop for popularity.
Just like how the right art trend, the right meme that explode in popularity can just boost a series.
(Like that Frieren Looking Up Meme/drawing challenge we got recently. It’s silly, but people liked it, and took it on a trip.)

ここ数年でMrs. GREEN APPLEはマジで一気に爆発した。
誇張抜きで、今はKing GnuやOfficial髭男dismよりも
トップにいると言っていいレベル。
Mrs. Green Apple blew up super hard in the past few years.
Like it’s not a exaggeration to say they’re at the top right now even over King Gnu and Official Hige Dandism.

最初に知ったのはFire Forceだったな。
「お、新しいバンドいいじゃん」って思って注目してた。
それが今年に入って、日本のビルボード見たら
トップ10のうち7枠くらい占領しててマジでビビった。
本当に化けたよね。普通に嬉しい。
I swear, i first heard these guys in Fire force way way back and i was like “oh new band. Cool! I will be watching out for them”.
Fast forward to earlier this year. On the jp billboards they took like 7 of the top 10 spots. I was genuinely so shocked! They really popped off! Very happy for them.

I still think those two are bigger, because their hits are more spread out outside of anime.

でも今の「人気・露出・需要」で言えば、
正直あの2組はMGAほどじゃない。
All 3 bands are amazing with slightly different target audiences. But those 2 bands are nowhere as big as MGA as of now in terms of popularity, exposure, and demand.

ここ2〜3年はMGAが一番人気だよ。
Nah if you follow Japan Billboard you can see MGA is the most popular band in the recent 2-3 years.

確かインタビューで見た話だけど、
マッドハウスが大森元貴に
「OP作ってください。基本お任せします」って頼んだらしい。
彼自身がフリーレンのファンなのも大きいよね。
映像と曲の一体感がちゃんと伝わってくる。
記憶違いだったらごめんだけど、
要するにMGAは普通に指名されたって話。
If I recall correctly from an interview, Madhouse basically asked Ohmori Motoki to make the opening and they’ll take whatever he makes (with some minimal parameters probably). Him being a fan of Frieren helps alot in this case as you can actually feel the song along with the visuals.
I could be wrong but if my memory serves me well.
TLDR MGA was asked to make the opening.

They are incredibly popular in Japan, like ludicrously so. They probably either just asked because of that or can ask anyone and they’ll likely say yes lol.

そもそも両作品とも制作委員会がかなり似てるんだよね。
東宝が中心で、日テレも関わってる。
じゃあ次は薬屋3期でヨルシカ来るんじゃない？
今までもアーティスト回し合ってるし、
止める理由なくない？って感じ。
あと東宝の中に絶対ファンがいるし、
MGAのボーカル自身もフリーレンのガチファン。
2年前に漫画一気読みしたってツイートしてたし、
OP発表前日にはヒンメルのコス（？）でツイートしてたからね。
隠す気ゼロで笑ったわ。
Well for starters both shows have similar production committees, lead by Toho and with NTV on there too, so I guess Yorushika OP for Apothecary Season 3? I mean they’ve been passing off artists to each other so far, why stop now, right?
Definitely someone at Toho who’s a fan of them, but also at least their lead vocalist is a Frieren fan (posted on twitter almost two years ago how he binge read the manga, also like a day before the reveal that they were doing the OP dude was posing as Himmel on twitter… not even being subtle about it, lol), so you can see how that would all connect and make this collaboration happen.

今期のOPで間違いなく一番好き。
Mrs. GREEN APPLE、正直あんまりハマらない曲もあるけど、
これはガチで外してない。
フリーレンの空気感と雰囲気に完璧に合ってるし、
映像も本当に美しい。
This is without a doubt the best opening of the season for me, Mrs Green apple while im not a fan of some of their songs absolutely did NOT miss.
The opening fits Frieren’s tone and atmosphere so well
Visually it looks beautiful as well.

Mrs. GREEN APPLEの中でもかなり好きな曲。
「Kusushiki」はじわじわ良くなっていったタイプだけど、
この曲は最初からバチっと来た。
This is one of my favorites from Mrs. Green Apple. Kusushiki grew on me slowly but this song is already a banger.

お互いをちゃんと引き立て合ってる。
ただ曲だけで言うなら、
今期は個人的に「勇者刑に処す」のOPの方が好みかな。
このOPは北川智也監督が絵コンテ・演出担当。
フル音源ももう公開されてるよ。

普段はキービジュとかPVが多いよね）
