Yes, due to the 2011 nuclear accident.

Good to know!

Japan and Taiwan should sign a free trade agreement to really piss off China lol.

Taiwan is a beautiful country. China could learn from them. 😆🫶

Taiwan is 1/65th the size of China – this help is symbolic

Wait, so they restricted import on Japanese food because they thought there’s a heath concern, and now they’ll lift the ban despite the concerns, just to fuck with China? The way the Taiwan government shows their support is to let their citizens eat food that once deemed to harbour nuclear contamination risks? That’s just fucked up.

No, the import restriction was already announced to be released back in Aug 29 but pending official confirmation. It just happens to be an opportune moment to formalise it. Furthermore, of the original 53 countries with restrictions on Japanese imports, 49 have already lifted restrictions. Remaining ones are China, South Korea and Russia.

You’re getting downvoted because you have no idea how Taiwanese people think nor how science works.

I’m Taiwanese. Taiwanese people are extremely susceptible to bullshit health claims without any evidence backing it (unfortunately). I know multiple households who refuse to use microwaves because they are afraid of radiation.

While restricting imports in 2011 was totally reasonable and logical as the world was still trying to figure out how much radiation truly made its way into the food supply, the restrictions should have been lifted five years later. It’s nearly 2026. The irradiated water being released into the ocean is a drop in the water, literally, of the amount of water in the ocean. The dilution process will render the radiation minuscule to none. There is absolutely zero harm in releasing the waste water despite Taiwanese, Chinese, and Korean claims that it’s dangerous.

Farms that are close enough to the reactor site have long been abandoned. Radiation has already settled into the dirt and been washed away or covered up by a decade and a half of soil and dust.

Taiwanese government needs to stop perpetuating ill-found fears of radiation and move on.

With the Yen on free fall, I will be heading over next month to eat all the seafood I want. Hope Takaichi stays and continue tanking the Yen though.

I hope they go to war just so ur crusty stinking ass can’t go.

Taiwan should just reunify with China already lol. So much drama for no reason

0/10 troll.

Opposite, China should reunify with taiwan

We don’t really want them. Sorry…

Even better: people should let Taiwan be whatever they want to be, and they do not want to be part of China, one way or the other.
