うわー、この漫画のことは聞いたことある。
作者さんがかなり深刻な健康問題を抱えてるって話で、正直もう続きを描くのは難しそうなんだよね。
でも、もしかしたらアニメなら続けられるかも？（結末自体はもう分かってるし）
Wow, I heard about this manga and that the author sadly has pretty bad health issues so he will probably never continue it at this point but maybe the anime can? (since we already know the ending)

今のうちに『アルスラーン戦記』と『乙嫁語り』を読み返しておこうかな。
I was wondering what happened with the manga. I know it went on hiatus on a cliffhanger but I haven’t checked in a year. I guess I’ll reread Arslan and A Bride’s Tale while I can.

注意点として、アレクサンドロス大王は『Fate/Zero』にも出てるから、歴史を学ぶ前にFateの視聴順をちゃんと履修しておかないとな。
It’s the source material for several anime. Be warned, Alexander the Great is in Fate/Zero so you’ll need to be caught up on the Fate watch order before learning about History.

Isekai has replaced the Japanese view of world history. And I don’t see any problem with that.

かなり渋いとこ突いてくるな。でも俺の大好きな歴史人物の一人だわ。
後継者戦争って、個人的にはめちゃくちゃ過小評価されてる時代だと思う。
アレクサンドロス大王が人類史上トップ5に入る影響力の持ち主だから、どうしても部下や友人たちが霞みがちだけど、
実際は彼ら自身も規格外レベルの有能さだったんだよね。
帝国がどう分裂していったかの物語も、展開が二転三転して本当に面白い。
Wow, it’s about Eumenes? That’s a pretty deep cut, but definitely one of my favorite historical people. The Wars of the Successors are among the most overlooked historical periods IMO; Alexander himself arguably being in like the top 5 most influential human beings to ever live means his commanders and friends are overshadowed by him, but many of them were themselves also very talented larger-than-life figures, and the story of how Alexander’s empire came to be divided among them is extremely interesting with loads of twists and turns.

I dont remember if it was an article or a reddit comment but the author spoiled the ending for us in case something happens with them that makes them unable to draw anymore

これ、俺の大好きな歴史漫画のひとつで、『ヴィンランド・サガ』とか『キングダム』と並ぶレベルなんだよ。
アニメ化でちゃんと評価されて、もっと人気出てほしいな。

ちなみに知らない人向けだけど、この作品の作者は岩明均先生（『寄生獣』の作者）ね。

This is one of my favourite historical manga, right up there with Vinland Saga and Kingdom. Hopefully, it will find some deserved popularity with its anime adaptation. Really looking forward to it.
Also for those who don’t know, the author of this series is Hitoshi Iwaaki (author of Parasyte)

それは制作スタッフ次第だな。
どんなに原作が良くても、アニメ化で大コケしてIPのイメージを完全に壊すこともある。
ゴホン……『約束のネバーランド』2期、『ワンパンマン』3期、『七つの大罪』3期……ゴホン。
It depends on the anime staff, a good manga could get a horrible adaptation and ruin the IP image forever. cough Promised Neverland S2, OPM S3, Nanatsu no Taizai S3 cough

正直、期待したい気持ちはあるけど、
LIDENFILMSで「これは良かった」って思えた作品、1〜2本くらいしかないんだよね。
だからあんまり期待できてない。
I want to be excited about this but there’s only been maybe one or two things by Lidenfilms I thought were actually good so I’m not too hopeful.

特に『君は放課後インソムニア』『るろうに剣心』『BASTARD!!』とか。
だから今回はちょっと希望持ってる。
They did put out a few pretty good title in the last few years specifically (Insomniacs After School, Kenshin, Bastard), so I’m actually allowing myself to be hopeful there.

これは正直、かなり予想外だった。
漫画はまだ全然中盤にも行ってないし、完結する見込みもほぼないからね。
でも実際の歴史がベースなら、
これは作者が物語を最後まで描き切る唯一のチャンスかもしれないし、
しかも映像表現も強化されるわけだ。
ネタバレ嫌なら、主人公のWikiページは絶対見るなよ。
Well this is a surprise to say the least considering the manga’s story is nowhere near its halfway point and never going to be finished. But since this is based on real historical events, maybe this is the only chance for the author to tell the story completely and with better visuals.
Don’t look up the main character’s wiki page if you don’t want to get spoiled.

原作が実際の歴史をちゃんとなぞってるなら、
ソースマテリアル欄でネタバレタグ付けなくても、史実の話は普通にできそうだね。
Assuming the manga follows the actual history carefully, then we might be able to discuss the actual events without needing a tagged spoiler in the Source Material section.

これは本当に予想してなかった。
他のコメントでも言われてるけど、『寄生獣』と同じ作者の作品。
あまり知られてないけど、実は歴史漫画もかなり描いてて、
その中でも代表作が『ヒストリエ』だね。
もう20年以上続いてるけど、作者も高齢になってきて健康問題もあって、
刊行された巻数は今のところ12巻くらい。
一応、物語は最終章に入ってるけど、
いつ終わるかは正直分からない。
細かい歴史のズレはあるけど、作品としては全然気にならないレベル。
普通にめちゃくちゃ面白い。
アニメ化、良い出来になることを願ってる。
This is something I wasn’t expecting.
As stated in the other comments, this is made by the same creator of Parasyte. What most people might not know is that while the creator is mostly known for that work, he’s done a lot of historical manga, Historie being the most notable of them.
It’s been going on for 20+ years now, but the author is getting old and has been running into health problems, so not that many volumes have actually been produced (around 12, so far). It’s actually in its final stages, but how long that will take to wrap up is unknown.
It’s great. There are historical inaccuracies here and there, but that doesn’t ruin the work. It’s still very enjoyable.
He’s hoping the adaptation is good.

このシリーズ好きなら、『テルマエ・ロマエ』もオススメ。
元は漫画で、アニメ化も実写化もされてる。
古代ローマの浴場建築家が、
日本の歴史上のいろんな時代にタイムスリップして、
最新デザインのヒントを得るって話。
基本はコメディだけど、
作者は大学時代にイタリアで学んで住んでただけあって、
ローマ史の知識はガチ。
For anyone who likes this series, you might also like Thermae Romae. Originally a manga and has an anime adaptation (as well as a live-action series, it follows an Roman thermae (bathhouse) architect who time travellers to various points in Japan’s history to draw inspiration for is latest designs. Very much a comedy series, but the author knows her Roman history I formed by her studying and living in Italy during university.

ローマの博物学者・プリニウスを描いた作品で、
しかもこっちはちゃんと完結してて、めちゃくちゃ良い。
The same author also co-wrote Plinivs, a manga about Pliny the Elder, which is awesome and also completed
