On one hand, cool! On the other, I have hundreds of hours in the other version. . . no transfer is brutal.

海外のナナシさん

Plus, this might be cool 6-8 years ago. But in the age of Genshin/wuwa and other 3d mobile games, a 12 years old un-intutive 2D game can do what?

Put a fork on it and be done.

Ironically, if GBF Relink had been made into an actual gacha game it could have been a great competitor to Genshin/Wuwa. The combat in that game is incredibly fun.

海外のナナシさん

I am forever grateful they didn’t do that, the normalisation of how predatory gacha games are is insane.

海外のナナシさん

The only failure of Relink is they didn’t continue supporting it. It’s a far better game than Genshin/Wuwa.

海外のナナシさん

Fuck gacha games

海外のナナシさん

The fact that they didn’t do any follow up to it like an expansion or something is such a big shame imo.

海外のナナシさん

I thought Relink was a gacha?

海外のナナシさん

Nope! It’s an arpg with a story campaign and an endgame with a similar structure to Monster Hunter. There’s multiple playable characters but you can get them all for free and pretty easily too, except the few that were added later. Those are a bit of a grind but still very much free to obtain.

海外のナナシさん

I heard the same, but by the time they released that in steam my interest in the franchise was long dead.

Basically, what really killed me was the nonsensical storylines(primal decide everything), the incredible need for farming, the guild wars that felt like a damn job, and the end game raid heavily favor JP because some dude can just 1 shot the boss cause he got end game gear and low ping.

海外のナナシさん

The fact they you can’t transfer your already linked account is stupid.

This game is 11 years old.

This is gonna be review bombed by the EN playerbase who was played for years.

Also GBF has gotten exponentially more money hungry in the last 3 years.

海外のナナシさん

It is apparently because of old legacy contract with Mobage, DMM and Yahoo so they can’t transfer account like they do for all of their othere games.

Like this is so old that it was originally called ”social game” from back when you would play games on facebook and social media lol.

海外のナナシさん

It’s so old its the reason Japan has laws around gatcha games

海外のナナシさん

Kinda. It’s part of the reason the industry self-regulated itself, but the one that actually got laws enacted was Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, which Cygames also ran (on behalf of Bandai-Namco). In particular in bans a particular form of gacha knows as “completion gacha”, which locks certain items behind getting all pieces from a lootbox. The government figured that even if you display the odds, the customer still can’t reasonably predict how much they have to spend to get the completion locked card.

海外のナナシさん

Oh interesting!

I was thinking of that story of how some streamer spent an ungodly amount of money trying to pull Andira on stream and didn’t manage to pull her.

It looked so bad that granblue implemented the spark pity system and there was some sort of government regulation after that.

I remember it because I got really into the Kingdom hearts Gatcha game and was playing the English and the Japanese version at the same time. I was kind of furious that the Japanese version had a pity system but the English one didn’t and was just pure merciless gambling.

JP devs for ya

Reminds me of FGO having had their bind code system for an eternity

海外のナナシさん

It’s not a JP dev thing in the sense you’re thinking of.

It’s the fact that accounts are tied to one of like 5 different services that Cygames does not own, because Granblue is a remnant of an older era when you’d be making accounts through Andapp(?) or Mobage or DMM or Yahoo. Yes, that Yahoo. That’s how old it is. They literally cant migrate accounts even if they wanted to.

海外のナナシさん

>Yes, that Yahoo.

IIRC Yahoo JP split off from the American company and has pretty much been its own separate thing for quite a while now.

海外のナナシさん

They own the game data… Of course they can migrate.

海外のナナシさん

Technically, they might not. The rights to operate the accounts likely lie with the account providers, not Cygames itself.

Every transaction in the game goes through the account providers, not Cygames. This makes things much more complicated than simply “migrate the accounts over”
